Ways to Customise a Chair Wire Fence for Your Home

You may have decided to install a chain link fence around your property and think that these fences are standardised and that each one looks like the next. However, that's not the case. You can customise these barriers in several ways, as described below.

Fence Height

Contractors install a chain link fence by unrolling the wire mesh and fixing it to posts that have been secured into the ground and to the horizontal railing. These mesh rolls come in various heights, so choosing a higher fence is a matter of using a taller roll. While a higher fence may involve more work than a shorter one, as the materials will be bigger and heavier, these fences use pre-manufactured elements, so it's relatively easy to adjust the height. They're not constructed on-site from scratch like brick and cement barriers. A home will typically need a fence to contain children and pets and to define the property border. And for that, a standard waist-high fence will often suffice.

Barrier Thickness and Weight

Another way to customise these fences is to select between different wire thicknesses. The steel wire is woven to form the classic diamond shape, and manufacturers can use thinner or thicker wire. Heavier gauge wire creates a more substantial barrier. The diamond shapes in the webbing can also be of different sizes. Typically, heavier wire forms bigger diamonds and lighter wire forms smaller ones. The posts and rails also vary in weight. They consist of hollow pipes that can be of different gauges. A home fence doesn't need the sturdiness of high-security barriers. Fencing contractors can recommend the best options for your installation.

Colour Options

You can install these fences in shiny silver galvanised steel — a galvanising process covers the wire in a zinc film to hinder rust. You can also choose other colours for the fence, such as black, brown, and green. On these fences, the wire mesh is encased in coloured PVC. Additionally, the posts and rails are powder-coated in the same colour to match. A black fence imparts a smart look, while green and brown borders give a rustic feel that is perfect for a more natural environment. The PVC layer guards against rusting, and the powder-coating process also adds a protective layer by covering the metal in tough polyester paint. When picking a colour, look around the landscape and echo shades you find in the house or garden.
