Reasons that your pool needs a fence

Every pool in a home with kids and pets should have pool fencing as a safety precaution. Keep in mind that pool fencing isn't a safety measure just for kids—it's also for adults. You could be walking by your pool at night when you're drunk, fall into the pool and drown. The same could happen to an adult who doesn't know how to swim, but it can be avoided by having a pool fence. Drowning is rampant in Australia, as it's the leading causing of unintentional death in kids aged between 0 to 4. Thirty-five per cent of accidental drowning deaths in Australia involve swimming pools. Other reasons you need a fence include the following:

Pet safety

Pets such as cats and dogs can swim with ease, but they struggle to get out of the pool. Unlike humans who can swim underwater, pets try to keep their heads above water to prevent water from getting into their noses. This means that their swimming posture is altered to have their heads tilting backwards. This affects their view as they struggle to locate the stairs due to their heads being tilted backwards. They will try to get out of the pool, and eventually they'll give up and drown.

You can prevent this by having glass pool fencing to prevent access to the pool. Another option is to watch your pets as they swim or buy pet life vests to keep them floating. However, pool fencing is still the best option as it restricts access, especially if you choose a fence that's over five feet tall. This reduces the chances of your cat or dog jumping over.

Adds privacy

If your self-conscious about your body and would prefer to swim in private, having a pool fence would help. You can choose to have frosted or tinted glass pool fencing. It would allow you to swim at any time of the day without worrying about your neighbours.

Beautification

Pool fencing adds an element of beauty to your pool that makes your pool look classy and stylish. The beauty is accentuated even further when you have glass pool fencing. The beauty of pool fencing is in the ability to customise. There are tons of materials available from aluminium, glass and wrought iron to wood and vinyl. You can also customise your pool fencing by choosing a colour, style, design and pattern that suits your needs.
